Median home prices rise in Redmond: The Central Oregon Association of Realtors released the 2016 year-end statistics for single-family homes. Compared to 2015, areas with the smallest percentage of total sales saw the biggest increases in pricing. For residential homes under 1 acre, the price rose 12 percent and the total number of homes rose seven percent. The median price of townhomes and condos also rose 2 percent and the total number of sales rose 38 percent.

NeighborImpact 2017 officers: Redmond-based NeighborImpact announced it is reducing its program appointments and services because it has been hit hard by winter weather and an increased need by clients in a three-county area. The nonprofit says it has exhausted the money provided through the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and it doesn’t know if more money will be released. Between Oct. 1 and Feb. 8, the program served 5,226 people. In other NeighborImpact news, newly elected Prineville City Councilor Theresa Rodriguez was named to the 2017 NeighborImpact Board of Directors. She worked for the State of Oregon Employment Department and is the owner of T&R Trucking. She will focus on affordable housing issues. Other officers for 2017 include La Pine’s Chad Carpenter, who will serve a third term as board president; Bend’s Sharon Smith, who will serve a third term as board vice president; and Prineville’s Brenda Comini will serve her first term as secretary/treasurer. Civil war coming to central Oregon: The Northwest Civil War Council will present a full Civil War re-enactment in May at the House on Metolius Meadow. The event is open to the public starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21. General admission tickets are $8 and parking is $5 per vehicle. The reenactment and living history camps include more than 300 Civil War reenactors presenting the living conditions and circumstances of the 1860s. The presentation will include mock battles throughout the day. The House on Metolius is two miles north of Camp Sherman on U.S. Highway 20.
