Summer Youth Film Workshop: Cooper Anderson, the Best Film winner of 2016 Central Oregon Film Festival, will be holding a film workshop for kids from 9 a.m. to noon July 26 and 27. The class will include production and preproduction techniques such as writing, storyboarding, lighting and scene shooting. Attendees will also gain hands-on experience filming at Smith Rock State Park and then work with post-production tools. The cost for the two-day session is $50 and for a one-day session is $25. NightTime Paving on U.S. 97: The Oregon Department of Transportation began nighttime paving operations on U.S. Highway 97 this week. The paving will take place from milepost 123.3, by Yew Avenue, to milepost 121.6, by Veterans Way. The paving is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. and will be complete by Friday at 5 a.m. The purpose of the paving is to fill the potholes on the road that have been caused by studded snow tires and other conditions.
