The Redmond School District serves more than 7,000 students from Redmond, Terrebonne, Tumalo, Eagle Crest, Alfalfa and Crooked River Ranch, by way of 800 teachers. The school district operates one early learning center, seven 1-5 elementary schools, two middle schools and two comprehensive high schools. The district’s preschool and kindergarten were combined to create the Redmond Early Learning Center in 2016 which includes bringing all kindergarten classes under one roof and providing resources for preschool-aged children.
In recent years, Redmond High School completed $10.5 million in upgrades, and the district opened Ridgeview High School, a 1,400-student facility with state-of-the-art technology, green-building features and comprehensive athletic and career-education facilities. Redmond High is home to a Marine Corps JROTC program and offers extensive vocational and technical classes, many of which simultaneously earn college credit through Central Oregon Community College.
The school district also offers a K-12 online school program, which uses local learning coaches and academic mentors.
Redmond Proficiency Academy, a charter school for grades 6-12, operates under the auspices of the Redmond School District but has an independent board and administrators. They constructed a new building for their middle school in 2016.
YouthBuild/Heart of Oregon Corps offers programs for ages 16-24 in the apprentice construction area, as well as opportunities to earn a diploma or GED. The High Desert Education Service District offers services for home-school students in our region and other special populations, and the Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council offers alternative high school education.
