In brief

Ridgeview to honor former player: Ridgeview High plans to dedicate Reece Rollins Field at its football stadium before Friday’s home opener against Ashland. Rollins was a member of the school’s 2013 state championship football team and its first graduating class in 2014. He scored a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage in the Ravens first ever game in 2012, running 65 yards and adding a 40-yard touchdown before the end of the first quarter of the 53-6 victory against Medicine Hat of Alberta, Canada. Rollins was one of four men who went missing after a May 2018 crash into a river on the Idaho-Montana border. His body was found several weeks later. The ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m., with kickoff at 7:20.

Former Redmond runner finishes 11th in college event: Former Redmond High runner Treyson Conley finished 11th of 40 runners Sept. 13 at the Eastern Oregon University Open in La Grande. Conley’s time of 26 minutes, 52.5 seconds on the 8-kilometer course helped Northwest Nazarene to a second place finish in the three-team meet. College of Idaho’s Alex Martin’s time of 25:35.3 was first.
