A Redmond-area man faces numerous encouraging child sex abuse charges related to a child pornography investigation, according to a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office news release.

An investigation into Joshua N. Shipman, 43, that started in the spring, based on a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program, led to a search warrant being executed Aug. 28 at Shipman’s home in the 1400 block of Highland View Loop, west of Redmond, officials said.

Shipman was arrested after detectives found evidence of Shipman viewing and distributing child pornography images, officials said. He was taken to Deschutes County jail, facing charges on seven counts of first-degree encouraging child sex abuse and 12 counts of second-degree encouraging child sex abuse, officials said.

Detectives also found evidence that led them to issue a second search warrant, this one for a home in Coquille, in Coos County, officials said. Detectives worked with the sheriff’s office there to seize evidence Sept. 4. A 32-year-old woman is a “person of interest” in the case, officials said.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is a network of 61 task forces representing more than 4,500 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
