Redmond, Ridgeview girls both get first-round byes

Note: Because of inclement weather, games in the second half of the Intermountain Conference boys and girls basketball games were canceled, and teams are instead to play a double-elimination tournament. Redmond and Ridgeview boys teams open play Thursday, with both girls teams getting byes to Saturday’s second round.

In brief

All core all the time: For ages 16 and up. The in-pool strength-training class is designed to help people understand why “the core” is so important. Learning to train this area more effectively will support better posture, improve balance and possibly lessen pain. The seminar will utilize Pilates-based techniques for strengthening core on land and in the water. The class is from 9 a.m.-noon Thursday at Cascade Swim Center. The cost is $5.
