Redmond fall teams shine academically

Several Redmond schools finished in the top 10 in Class 5A in the Oregon School Activities Association’s recently-released Academic All-State rankings for fall sports.
After finishing No. 1 in the state the last two years, the Redmond High boys cross country team was second in 5A with a 3.92 grade-point average. The Redmond girls cross country team actually had a slightly higher team GPA of 3.93, placing them fourth in 5A.
In football, Ridgeview finished sixth with a 3.04 GPA. In soccer, both Ridgeview teams finished seventh, while winning Intermountain Conference titles on the pitch. The Ridgeview girls achieved a 3.69 GPA, while the boys had a 3.37 GPA.
Other Redmond School District teams to finish with GPAs above 3.0 were Ridgeview (3.47) and Redmond volleyball (3.15), Redmond girls soccer (3.63), which missed the top 10 by a hundredth of a point, and Ridgeview boys (3.38) and girls (3.78) cross country.
Central Christian made the top 10 in Class 1A in volleyball, where the Tigers tied for ninth with a 3.7 GPA.
