A Redmond man died Wednesday after his motorcycle collided with a semi-truck in Wheeler County, according to an Oregon State Police news release.

Gregory Vibbert, 26, lost control of the 1987 Harley-Davidson Heritage he was riding south on Highway 207 near milepost 27.5 around 12:40 p.m., police said. Vibbert laid the motorcycle on its side and collided near the centerline of a curve in the road with a 2001 Peterbilt semi-truck and trailer, driven by David Belyea, 63, of Hermiston, who was driving north, police said.

Gregory Vibbert was riding alongside his father, Terry Vibbert, who has raised thousands for charities as owner of Jersey Boys Pizzeria in Redmond.

Gregory Vibbert was an honorable mention all-state offensive tackle in 2009 at Bend High, before playing college football at College of the Redwoods in Eureka, Calif., and Whitworth University in Spokane, where he graduated with a sociology degree, according to archives. He went on to work for J Bar J Youth Services.
