A 24-year-old Redmond man faces charges including driving under the influence of intoxicants after an Aug. 4 rollover crash near Ridgeview High School, according to a Redmond Police news release.

An off-duty Bend Police officer notified dispatch of a driver going north from Highway 97 to SW 61st Street, then SW Canal Boulevard, south of Redmond, reaching speeds of more than 80 mph and crossing into oncoming traffic around 5:30 p.m., police said. After crossing the Redmond city limit and passing Ridgeview, the gray 2017 Toyota Tacoma, driven by Yosef Alfonso Valdivia-Perez, went off the road near the intersection of SW Canal and South Heights Avenue, police said.

The pickup rolled several times before coming to rest along a frontage road near several houses, police said.

Valdivia-Perez was taken to the police department and issued a citation to appear in court on charges of reckless driving and criminal mischief, in addition to DUII-alcohol, police said. Valdivia-Perez and a passenger were evaluated by medics at the scene of the crash but denied transport to a hospital, police said.

The arrest was one of six Redmond Police made on DUII charges during the Aug. 1-5 Deschutes County Fair and Rodeo, police said. Police said fair time is busy for businesses, families and law enforcement.
