RPA to host mayoral forum: Redmond Proficiency Academy will play host to a Sept. 26 forum including Mayor George Endicott and former Mayor Ed Fitch, Endicott’s opponent in the Nov. 6 election. According to a news release, the event, which is open to the public, is being organized by social studies teacher Matt Killpack to help inform students about local government and current issues in Redmond. Each candidate will have two-minute opening and closing statements and will be asked questions by RPA students, with 90 seconds to respond. The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the McClay Theatre, 640 SW Evergreen Ave.

Redmond Angus breeder to serve at national convention: Kim V. DeLashmutt of Redmond has been elected to serve as a delegate at the 135th American Angus Association Convention in Columbus, Ohio, according to a news release. DeLashmutt is one of 329 breeders selected by fellow members to attend the event. The Saint Joseph, Missouri-based American Angus Association is the nation’s largest beef breeding organization, with 25,000 members in the United States, Canada and other countries.

Airman graduates basic training: Air Force National Guard Airman 1st Class Taylor M. Hansen, who has family in Redmond, recently graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas, according to a news release. She completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Completing basic training earns Hansen four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Hansen, a 2011 graduate of Thurston High in Springfield, is the daughter of Donald and Michelle Hansen of Redmond and the sister of Kaycee Hansen.

Developer selling homes near Ridgeview: Bend-based Palmer Homes has opened a model home at 4566 SW Zenith Ave. in the Redtail Ridge subdivision in south Redmond. According to a news release, the homes feature mountain views. The model home, located north of Ridgeview High School, has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a three-car garage and features “farmhouse charm.” The company’s website (palmerhomes.com) lists its Redmond home prices between $489,900 and $529,900 for between 2,067 and 2,350 square feet.
