In brief
Smith Rock climbing festival: A Sept. 14-16 climbing festival at Smith Rock State Park will feature adventure films, climbing clinics, friendly competition and local stewardship projects to celebrate the Pacific Northwest’s climbing and climbers, according to a news release. The Smith Rock Craggin’ Classic features clinics taught by Chockstone Climbing Guides and athletes like Marcus Garcia, Brette Harrington, Max Tepfer, Olivia Hsu, Shingo Ohkawa, Chelsea Rude, Alan Watts, Jules Jimreivat, Dan Mirsky and Anna Pfaff, as well as adaptive and women-only clinics. The event also includes stewardship programs like rebuilding trails and containing invasive species. It is a collaboration between American Alpine Club, Mazamas, Oregon State Parks, Access Fund, Smith Rock Group and volunteers. For more information, visit www.americanalpineclub.org/smith-rock-cc.

Redmond, with 92 points finished fourth in the five team IMC Preview, which The Dalles won with 33 points. According to Ridgeview’s Athletic.net page, the Ravens did not attend the meet because the Redmond School District didn’t send a bus to take them.
Girls cross country
Redmond, with 94 points, finished fourth in the four team IMC Preview, which Hood River Valley won with 18 points.
