April 18, 1948 – July 22, 2018
Bill Callaway passed away peacefully on July 22, 2018 at his home in Bend, Oregon and with his wife, Linda by his side. His was a life well lived and one which honored God, his family, his friends and his country.
Born in 1948, in Detroit, Michigan to Marjorie and William Callaway, Bill grew up with his sister, Anita and brother, Greg living in multiple cities across the U.S. Bill had a deep love for his country and proudly served in the Air Force in the late 1960s when he was stationed overseas for several years. After his service, he made his home in Southern California and established a long and successful career in real estate. His commitment to his profession and to his clients allowed him the opportunity he so enjoyed helping people realize their goals of home ownership. The long term professional relationships and personal friendships he made throughout his career were a testament to his sincere commitment to serving others.
Perhaps nothing sums up or defines Bill as well as how he conducted his life the past five years. During this time Bill battled cancer, but he dedicated his actions to sharing his faith-based devotion. He sincerely cared about others and valued time spent with family and friends. Whether it was testing his brewing skills with his FOG (Four Old Guys) Brewing buddies, working on his golf game, taking a hike with Linda, sharing time with his friends from church or dunking Oreos with his granddaughters, Bill enjoyed the rewards and the love of family, friendship and fellowship. He was a true sports fan and a voracious reader, both of which were fond past times he enjoyed into his last days. Despite the medical challenges he faced, he often said, he had no need to worry about his future as it was in God’s hands and he trusted the road ahead. His courage and devotion served him well and allowed him to pass on in peace and in faith.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Callaway of Bend, his son, Wesley Kidder, daughter, Sara Odendahl, son-in-law, Kent Odendahl and granddaughters, Ava and Alexa Odendahl, as well as sons, Erik Callaway and Bret Callaway and daughters, Doniella Kirton and Angel Garner.
