February 12, 1940 – June 29, 2018

James Leroy Kinsey, our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, went to be with his Heavenly Father in the early hours of the morning, after many years of suffering from symptoms of Cerebella Ataxia.

Born to Guy Leroy Kinsey and Elise Edwyna ‘Adams’ Kinsey on February 12, 1940, in Roseburg, OR, Jim was born 4th of 5 children in his family: Corlee Clinton (preceded in death), Anita Clinton, Peggy Berg, himself and Vye Brandaw.

Jim served in the US Navy, submarine division from 1957-1961. He returned home and married high school sweetheart Kay Karlene Brandaw on March 9, 1962. Together they raised 3 children: Cari, Kirsten and Jason.

They made a home and lived in Hillsboro, OR where he worked as a fabricator for Federal Sign. Jim and Kay ventured east as a young family where their roots grew deeply into the high desert soil. They became fast friends with the smell of a juniper breeze, summer nights, and the Cascade mountain range view from their porch. Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, driving his Model T, and riding motorcycles. He was a story-teller of all his life’s experiences; there were many delightful stories and memories shared.

Jim was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bend. He was a hard-working dedicated man. He worked as a journeyman sheet metal worker, salesman and business owner of ACCO (Air Conditioning Company of Oregon) and Commercial Heating and Air Conditioning in Bend. He also enjoyed 5 years as an Owner/Operator long-haul truck driver for Specialized Equipment and later for Natures Grocers, hauling fresh produce and baked goods from the valley to Central Oregon.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kay Karlene Kinsey, children, Cari (Mike) Madsen, Kirsten Amis, Jason (Shawna) Kinsey, as well as, 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
