Redmond names new volleyball coach: A former La Pine head coach and Summit junior varsity coach is the new volleyball coach at Redmond High. Redmond resident Aaron Mallory has also been J.V. coach at Culver and coached club volleyball with the Desert West, Oregon Sun, Juniper and Oregon Volleyball Academy teams. Redmond School District Athletic Director Kevin Bryant said in an email that Mallory has placed a high priority on reviewing equipment and uniform needs, hiring assistants and reviewing the fall schedule. “Aaron loves kids and loves volleyball, and we are excited to have him aboard,” Bryant said.
Redmond basketball player gets all-state honor: Redmond junior forward Ava Kitchin was named honorable mention all-state in Class 5A girls basketball. Kitchin averaged 14 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game in the 2017-18 season.
