Larry Neil Adkins

Larry Neil Adkins was the youngest of five children born to Bert and Beulah Adkins on June 15, 1936, in Emmett, Idaho.
He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Gail Smith, in December 1954, in St. Helens, Oregon.
He is survived by his wife, and four children, Kathy Story of Madras, Tammy Fox (Dan) of Prineville, Jim Adkins (Greta), Madras, and Kimberly Parker (Don) of Glade Park, Colorado. He leaves 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Becky Story; and great- grandson, Sammy Hinton.
He was a very loving husband and devoted to his children. Larry trusted Jesus Christ as his Saviour in 1962, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Prineville.
Larry served in the Army National Guard and became an Oregon State Trooper in January 1960. He was the Madras outpost sergeant for 17 years. After retirement in 1991, he worked for Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Madras City Police, and then farmed for several years. His reputation for fairness and honesty are the best examples he left for his family.
He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on February 9, after a long battle with cancer.
A graveside gathering will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Jefferson Memorial Park in Madras, Oregon.
