April 18, 1957 – January 31, 2018

Our beloved husband, father, son, friend, and teacher, David John Fiore, passed away suddenly on Wed., Jan. 31, 2018, following complications from a traumatic head injury. He was surrounded by family and friends while he wore his signature Hawaiian shirt and Pendleton Round Up cowboy hat.

David was born on April 18, 1957, in San Francisco, CA. He went to Pioneer High School in San Jose, CA, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He went to Santa Clara University, where he met the love of his life, Tracey Hammond. He played rugby and graduated in 1978, with a degree in English literature. He then attended San Jose State to get his teaching degree, and, finally, to Western Oregon State College to earn his masters degree.

Dave and Tracey were married July 10, 1982, at the Mission Santa Clara. They lived in Chicago, IL, before moving to Bend in 1983. Dave worked for SAIF Corporation as a claims examiner before teaching high school English at La Pine High School and later at Mountain View.

Dave and Tracey recently moved back to Bend after 14 years in Pendleton, where he served as Uniserve Consultant for the Oregon Education Association until his retirement in June 2016. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bev Fiore. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Tracey; sons, Matt Fiore of Eugene, Mike Fiore (fiancé Abby) of Salt Lake City, UT; daughter, Kimberly Kalin of Pacific Grove, CA; father, Marcel Fiore of Rockland, CA; sister, Jane Tilton (Mark) of Rockland, CA; brothers, Bob Fiore of Pleasant Hill, CA, and, Steve Fiore of Richmond, VA; and numerous in-laws and nephews.

Anyone who knew Dave knew he was a stranger to no one, full of life and laughter, and treasured by all of his family and friends. He lit up every room he walked into with his contagious smile.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Sat., Feb. 3, 2018, at 1:30 pm at the Elks Lodge of Bend. Those who wish to attend are requested to wear their finest Hawaiian attire. Contributions may be made to the Oregon Education Association Foundation, 6900 SW Atlanta St., Portland, OR, 97223.
