Sept. 2, 1928 – Dec. 1, 2017
Donald was born to William and Lena McCoy in Cameron, Idaho, on September 2, 1928. The family moved to Coos Bay, Oregon, where Donald graduated from high school and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean war.
Don then moved to Bend, and became the Supervisor of Streets for the city of Bend. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and never missed an opening day at Wickiup Reservoir. Snow, rain, wind, no matter what…he was there.
Don and his son, Bruce, were skin divers and helped with Deschutes Search and Rescue.
After the death of his son, Don became father as well as grandfather to his five grandchildren, Brandon, Jeremy, Brenda, Kevin and Kimberly. This job he did willingly and with much pleasure.
Don passed away on December 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena; a brother, Mac; and son, Bruce.
Services for Don will be held after the first of the year.
