Marvin R. Gage, 75 of Bend, passed away November 14, 2017, at home. He was born November 30, 1941, in Carson City, Nevada, to Ralph and Ruth (Twomey) Gage. The family moved to Tumalo from Topaz, California, in 1955. Marv graduated from Redmond High School in 1959 and was an Oregon State wrestling champion. On February 11, 1961, in Boise, Idaho, he married his wife of 56 years, Carol Tietjens. Over the years, he owned A-1 Radiator and Bend Car Wash, was in sales with Arrow Rentals and Hooker Creek Companies, and was general manager of COWS (Central Oregon Welding Supply)/NORCO for 26 years. Marv was active in the community with the Lions Club and Elks Lodge leading activities, like the Buckaroo Breakfast, the Fourth of July Breakfast, and the arena crew at the Demolition Derby, as well as a long-term board member of Arnold Irrigation District. He enjoyed hunting, camping, boating and coached, and umpired baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Rod and his wife, Susie, and Dan; grandchildren, Ashley, Scott, Wendi, and Vanessa; nephews and nieces, Harry Jr., LeaAnne, Eddie, Marsha, Jill, Jennifer, and Janice. Marv was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers, Harry Gage, Larry Sughrue, and Jim Sughrue.
A celebration of his life will be held December 10, 2017, at 2:00 PM in the Bend Senior Center, 1600 SE Reed Market Rd., in Bend. Private interment was held in Deschutes Memorial Gardens.
