Kids yoga: For ages 6-10. The class encourages self-expression and fundamental tools to help children focus with various breathing and visualization techniques. It features yoga games, kids’ songs and basic anatomy. Classes are from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturdays from Feb. 4-25 at RAPRD Activity Center. The cost is $20. Introduction to aquatic wellness days: For all ages, the free event provides information for those interested in trying aquatic aerobics or looking to see which aquatic wellness class is right for them. Attendees are asked to bring their swimsuits and a towel. Staff will be on hand to answer questions. Introduction is from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Cascade Swim Center.
Swim lessons: Redmond Area Park and Recreation District is offering swim lessons for preschool swimmers, as well as basic and swim for life levels for those 6 years old and up, in February and March at Cascade Swim Center. Adaptive classes for swimmers with disabilities of all ages are also being offered. The cost for each class is $40. Sign up by calling 541-548-7275 or visiting raprd.org.
Junior Eels: For ages 6 and up. The Junior Eels Competition track is for swim lesson participants of ages 6 and up with a goal of joining the Redmond Athletic Club Eels, the year-round USA swim team for ages 8 to 18. It is designed as a fun but rigorous initiation to the world of competitive swimming. Practice is 5:30-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays Feb. 7-March 9 at Cascade Swim Center. The cost is $40. All core all the time: For ages 16 and up. The in-pool strength-training class is designed to help people understand why “the core” is so important. Learning to train this area more effectively will support better posture, improve balance and possibly lessen pain. The seminar will utilize Pilates-based techniques for strengthening core on land and in the water. The class is from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 18 at Cascade Swim Center. Kids street dance: For ages 7 to 12, the motivational, educational 45-minute dance fitness class uses hip hop through choreographed movement. The class is gender neutral with athletic age-appropriate dance moves and clean music. Classes are from 4:15-5 p.m. Fridays from Feb. 3-24 at RAPRD Activity Center. The cost is $20.
