The Redmond High girls basketball team got back on the court Jan. 19 and made a memorable night of it.

The Panthers defeated Mountain View 43-30, ending a 43-game losing streak since it last won a league game.

Redmond hadn’t won an Intermountain Conference game since joining the Class 5A league for the 2012-13 season.

McKaylie Capps led Redmond with 20 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, when the Panthers broke open a tie game to outscore the Cougars 20-7. Capps scored 12 of her points on four three pointers.

Ava Kitchin scored 13 points, Hailie Harkins added six, Jordan Fox and Kailey Jackson scored two each.

Weather-related cancellations meant it was the first game for both teams since Jan. 6, but the Panthers had to quickly return to the court. They played again the next day, losing 48-23 to Bend.

Redmond was scheduled to end a three-game home stand Jan. 24 against Summit, before playing Friday at Mountain View.
