The Jan. 7 Jay Rowan Invitational swim meet was initially scheduled to feature seven teams competing at the Cascade Swim Center in Redmond. But poor travel conditions meant only Redmond High and Ridgeview could make it.
Redmond won both the boys and girls events, narrowly defeating the Ridgeview boys 212-190 and besting the Ridgeview girls 238-170.
In the boys event, Redmond had victories from Jacob Crumine in the 200-yard freestyle, Shayne Bidwell in the 200 individual medley, Nicky Tsai in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, Garrett McMichael in the 100 breaststroke and in the 200 medley relay. Ridgeview had wins by Ben Hucke in the 100 freestyle, Reed Pozzi in the 400 freestyle and in the 200 freestyle relay.
On the girls side, Redmond had victories from Andrea Broyles in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, Hailey Gieschen in the 100 butterfly, Whitney Gieschen in the 100 freestyle, and the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Ridgeview winners included P.J. Lighthall in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke and Aria Mascall in the 50 freestyle.
Ridgeview next competes in the White Bluff Classic Saturday in Madras, while Redmond will take part in the Rumbaugh Invitational Saturday in Corvallis.
