Redmond High’s boys basketball team picked up its first win of the season Dec. 23 in the Panthers’ final game at the Rebel Basketball Classic at South Albany High School.

Aris Kitchin scored 16 points in Redmond’s 53-48 victory against North Eugene. Ethan Soto added 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Zach Redelings scored eight points and Dylan Taylor added seven.

Redmond (1-6) previously lost 61-50 against Dallas, 68-45 against South Albany and 92-61 against Woodburn in the tournament. The games were their first since Dec. 10 because of weather-related cancellations.

The Panthers play at Sisters on June 3 before starting Intermountain Conference play June 6 against Summit.

The Redmond girls, meanwhile, evened their record at 2-2 in the Bandon Dunes Invitational by defeating host Bandon 57-40 Dec. 20, the day before falling 47-39 against Del Norte (California). The Panthers are playing this week in the Vince Dulcich Memorial Tournament in Astoria.
