Basketball teams take losses

It was a tough start to the season for Redmond High and Ridgeview’s basketball teams.

The No. 27 Panthers boys team lost back-to-back games Dec. 2 and 3, falling 66-37 at Hood River Valley before coming home and losing 75-48 against Lebanon the next day.

Lebanon had defeated Ridgeview 65-38 Dec. 2.

Lebanon also easily defeated Ridgeview and Redmond on the girls side, knocking off the Ravens 75-36 Dec. 2, before defeating the Panthers 59-40 Dec. 3.

Carlos Figueroa led the Redmond boys with nine points and four steals against Hood River, ranked No. 15 in Class 5A. Zach Redelings scored eight points, and Aris Kitchin scored six points and grabbed five rebounds.

Dylan Taylor had 11 points, six assists and five rebounds for Redmond against Lebanon, which is ranked No. 10 in 5A. Ethan Soto scored 10, and Figueroa and Redelings scored eight each.

John Wright led No. 22 Ridgeview with 16 points in its boys loss against Lebanon. Zach and Nick Nelson scored six points each.

Jordan Fox had nine points and nine rebounds for the No. 18 Redmond girls in their loss against No. 3 Lebanon. Ava Kitchin had five points and eight rebounds, and Bella Dannis and Kailey Jackson each had seven points.

For Ridgeview, also ranked 18th, Adrienne Wilcox scored 10 points, including two 3-pointers, while Aspen Jeter scored eight against Lebanon. The Warriors took a 21-3 first quarter lead and didn’t look back.

The Ridgeview boys and girls both play in the Crater Basketball Invitational starting Thursday in Central Point, while the Redmond boys are at the Madras Tournament on Friday.

The Redmond girls play at Crook County on Thursday before hosting Hood River on Friday.
