The event included games, fire engine rides, and fire hose competitions. The annual event is held on the weekend around halloween, and is free to the public. It's held in the vehicle bays at Redmond's downtown fire station at 341 NW Dogwood.
Camp Fire USA
Camp Fire USA Central Oregon is a coeducational organization serving kids 5-17 residing in Deschutes, Crook, Jefferson and Klamath counties. Camp Fire offers a variety of club programs, day camps, enrichment programs, self-reliance courses and “get outside” programs. (541-382-4682.
Deschutes County 4-H
4-H is a youth-education program of the Oregon State University Extension Service, with membership available to all youth in grades K-12. Educational activities and projects are provided in plant or animal science, natural science, home economics, engineering, expressive arts, citizenship, leadership and cross-cultural programs. 541-548-6088, deschutes4h.com.
Boys & Girls Clubs
Boys & Girls Clubs of Redmond & Terrebonne recently announced it plans to separate from the national organization; it is expected to announce a new name this fall. The clubs are a private nonprofit serving youth ages 6 to 18 with before- and after-school services as well as summer programs. Girl Scouts of the USA
The Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington Council serves Redmond and Deschutes County for girls ages 5 to 18. Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. (541-389-8146, girlscoutsosw.org.
Boy Scouts of America
The Fremont District (Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson counties) of the Crater Lake Council serves more than 4,000 boys, young men and women ranging in age from 6 to 21, providing opportunities for leadership training, emergency medical training, environmental conservation and assistance to citizens.
