It’s back-to-school time for our community and students! Deschutes Public Library is an integral supporter of our students, teachers and learners of all ages. If you or your family members need support in your school pursuits, contact your local public library for help.

You can access all of our electronic resources from our website: www.deschuteslibrary.org.

Here are just a few of the resources we have at our fingertips:

Research and Learning database for all ages

If you’re doing research, from a third-grade report on pollywogs to a college-level project on the Oregon Spotted Frog (Rana pretiosa), we’ve got you covered. These electronic databases are available at your local public library, or you can sign in from home using your library card number. The articles and resources in these databases are more reliable and consistent than a general internet search.

Teacher Requests

Are you a teacher either residing or working in Deschutes County? We’d be happy to pull resources for you, make a research list, talk to your class or provide bibliographic and research instruction. Just fill out the form on our webpage, and we’ll get in touch with you. We also have updated lists on popular topics such as penguins, the Oregon Trail and renewable energy.

Library Linx program

Did you know that our public elementary schools in Redmond are Library Linx schools? This is a relationship between the schools and library in which we delivery library books to the schools for both parents and teachers. If you find it difficult to get to the library, and your child is a student at one of our elementary schools, you can go online, reserve books for them, help them find good materials and resources and have them all delivered to their school. Students can also drop off any public library item at their school to return it to the library. This program gets more books into our students’ hands, and provides teachers with a wider variety of titles for projects in the classroom.

Working with local schools

The library is proud to have a working relationship with area schools. We provide support and programming to teachers and students from preschool to college level, including our private schools. And the partnerships go both ways. For example, COCC’s Redmond campus has provided program support to the library, and we look forward to working together in the near future.
