Historical Facts of Redmond

Central Oregon was a central hub of potato production in the northwest in the early 1900s, providing Oregon much of its supply of potatoes. Redmond was home to the Potato Festival, originally the potato show, which ran from 1910 to 1970. The potato market took a downward turn, and, shortly into the 1970s, Redmond became a mill town supporting the timber industry.
