Historical Facts of Redmond

Crook County was once the main county in Central Oregon before it split in the early 1900s. Bend wanted to become the county seat, instead of Prineville. Even though Redmond was opposed to the split initially, the city joined Bend in the 1916 creation of Deschutes County.
