Historical Facts of Redmond

While California was a well-known destination during the early 20th-century gold rush, Redmond was found to be a promising location as well. First it was panning in the Deschutes River, near Cline Falls, then that turned into gold mines burrowing into the cliffs next to the river. But as time went on, so did the investors and the mines never produced what was expected to “supply the state with gold for the next century and then some,” according to Spokesman archives.
