Male athlete of the week

Clayton Brown, Ridgeview football — Brown scored two touchdowns, including a game-winning catch in overtime, during the Ravens’ 12-6 victory Sept. 16 against Hood River Valley.

Female athlete of the week

Kenzie Jackson, Redmond volleyball — Jackson had four kills and three aces in a 25-16, 25-20 victory against Parkrose in the first round of a tournament in Dallas.

Game of the week

Boys soccer, Ridgeview 1, Silverton 1 — Westley Carter scored the lone goal for the Ravens in the 41st minute off a Christian Kim assist in the Sept. 15 draw. Silverton scored on a 69th-minute penalty kick to level the match.

What to watch for

Football — In a rare week where both Redmond teams get home league games, Redmond faces Mountain View while Ridgeview plays host to Pendleton. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.

Ridgeview finished ninth in the 20-team Silver Falls Oktoberfest Invitational. Second-place Albert Hesse was the Ravens’ top finisher in the 5,000 meter event, 7.2 seconds behind Hassan Ibrahim of Jefferson.

Sept. 17

Redmond finished 18th in the 21-team Northwest Classic in Eugene. Aaron Park, in 105th place, was the top finisher for the Panthers.

Girls cross country

Sept. 17

Redmond finished 15th in the 18-team Northwest Classic in Eugene. Whitney Gieschen, in 62nd place, was Redmond’s top finisher.
