Holes-in-one: Three golfers recently aced area holes. Two of the golfers made their holes-in-one on the 126-yard fourth hole at Crooked River Ranch Golf Club. Judi Skaurud made her fourth lifetime ace June 30, using a 13-wood, while Judy Parker made her fifth hole-in-one July 3 with a 4-hybrid. Meanwhile, John Giambitti, of Bend, made his second hole-in-one in 35 years of golfing June 30 at Juniper Golf Course in Redmond. He used a 5-wood to ace the 185-yard 16th hole.

Sports physicals: Incoming freshmen and junior athletes at Redmond and Ridgeview high schools, as well as middle school athletes, will have an opportunity to take a required sports physical at a discounted price before competing in sports. Local doctors and others are donating their time at the Aug. 9 Sports Physical Night. Students can get a physical for $20, with money going toward sports medicine supplies at the student’s school. Everyone planning to play sports at Redmond High School, Ridgeview High School, the middle schools or Redmond Proficiency Academy is asked to attend the event for athletic sign-up and clearance. Parents must attend with their children and provide “pay-to-play” fees for their team. Students are asked to attend at designated times to minimize long lines. The times are 5 to 6 p.m. for students with last names starting with A through G, 6 to 7 p.m. for students with names starting with H through P and 7 to 7:30 p.m. for Q-through-Z names.
