In brief
Basketball camp: The Maarty Leunen Basketball Camp is scheduled for June 15-17 at Redmond High School. Boys and girls camps are available for incoming third- through sixth-graders and seventh- through 12th-graders. The $50 registration fee benefits Redmond High’s boys and girls basketball programs. Players will be instructed by Leunen, a former Panthers and Oregon Ducks star, as well as Redmond High coaches and other former college players. Call 541-923-4806 to register or sign up at the door on the day of camp.
Family swim night: The Autism Society of Central Oregon’s monthly family swim night for all ages is scheduled for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 5 at Cascade Swim Center. Contact Melissa Romo at 541-419-1064 or AutismSocietyOregon.org for more information.
Pre-K gymnastics: For ages 3-5. The program introduces basic movements and body positions and includes a mini-obstacle course. Classes are taught at Redmond Gymnastics Academy by trained instructors. Classes are from 11-11:45 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays June 6-19. The cost is $39 for Mondays only or $78 for Mondays and Wednesdays.

Free running: For ages 6-18. Participants learn to use city and rural landscapes to perform movements through structures. Redmond Gymnastics Academy offers beginning and advanced classes Mondays and Wednesdays June 6-29. Sign up by calling 541-548-7275 or visiting raprd.org.
Adaptive tour: For ages 18 and up. Tour the Deschutes Land Trust Metolius Preserve on an accessible path. It includes a guided tour of the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery and the Camp Sherman Fire Station. Takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 11. The cost is $65. Sports foundation receives grant: The High Desert Shooting Sports Foundation recently received a $20,000 grant from Oregon Friends of NRA. The foundation plans to use the money to help build a rifle range on its property. The site, located on Highway 97 between Redmond and Bend, will become the new home of the Redmond Rod and Gun Club.
