Bike Fest: Redmond Area Park and Recreation District’s Bike Fest features a bike rodeo and challenge course. The event, which is part of Bike Month, includes a helmet-check station, information booth and drawings for prizes. It is scheduled for 4:30-6:30 p.m. May 20 at John Tuck Elementary School.
Teen introduction to archery: For ages 14 to 18, this class includes lessons on range safety and equipment basics. Classes start at 4 p.m. May 10 through 12 at Top Pin Pro Archery. The cost is $25. Sign up by calling 541-548-7275 or visiting raprd.org.
Bring your own boat kayaking: Kayak enthusiasts can practice at the Cascade Swim Center pool from 5 to 7 p.m. May 15. The cost is a $5 drop-in fee.
Dive-in disco: For all ages. A late-night pool party with dance music and cosmic lighting. Event runs from 8 to 10 p.m. May 21 at the Cascade Swim Center. The cost is $4.
Midday recreational swim: For all ages. A noon to 2 p.m. swim at Cascade Swim Center for children out of school May 30. A drop-in fee applies.
Lifeguarding class: Cascade Swim Center is offering classes that will certify people who finish in lifeguarding, CPR, first aid and AED and BBP. It includes lectures, demonstrations and videos with hands-on training and practice. Classes take place from 3 to 7 p.m. May 31 through June 4 at CSC. The cost is $175. Madras rodeo: A rodeo scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday in Madras seeks to raise money to help youth in agriculture. The Tom Green Memorial Ranch Rodeo has raised $30,000 since 2011, with money going to bump fair auction prices and to cover stall rental fees for Jefferson County 4-H and FFA students. It is named for a Madras cattleman who died in a 2011 feedlot accident. Tickets are $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under.
