Redmond saw its ranking rise to No. 3 in the Class 5A state baseball rankings, according to the Oregon School Activities Association.
The rise comes after the Panthers (5-1) defeated The Dalles 8-5 April 1. Redmond was the highest ranked team in the Intermountain Conference going into league play, which began April 5 at Mountain View.
Summit is now No. 4 in the state, followed by No. 12 Ridgeview, No. 17 Bend and No. 27 Mountain View.
Redmond was led in the victory against The Dalles by Tyler Elliott-Johnson, who allowed two hits in six innings and also had two hits of his own. Third baseman Colton Slavey had two RBIs in the game.
Redmond is scheduled to play Mountain View, this time at home, at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Panthers then have a two-game showdown with Summit — 4:30 p.m. Friday at home and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Summit.
