Reed Pozzi and Ben Hucke, Ridgeview boys swimming — Pozzi earned a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke and finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly at the Hood River High School Invitational on Jan. 23, while Hucke finished fifth in the 50 freestyle and seventh in the 100 freestyle. Pozzi and Hucke were both members of the 200 medley relay team, which finished fourth, and the 200 freestyle relay team, which finished fifth. Ridgeview finished sixth of 10 teams in the boys meet.
Female athlete of the week
Makenzie Whitney, Ridgeview girls basketball — Whitney stepped up after the Ravens’ other stars got into foul trouble in a 55-30 victory Jan. 19 over Redmond. Whitney scored 21 points, 16 in the second half, helping lead Ridgeview to a 3-1 record in Intermountain Conference play.

Game of the week
Wrestling, Redmond High at Reser’s Tournament of Champions — Redmond High’s wrestling team finished fifth out of 24 teams Jan. 22-23 at the Reser’s Tournament of Champions in Hillsboro. Mitch Willett (170 pounds) and Jacob Brauchler (285) finished second in their weight classes in the tournament, where teams from all classifications compete against each other. Mario Nonato finished third at 220 pounds, Austin Hill was fifth at 195 pounds and Dayton Woodward was sixth at 145 pounds.
What to watch for
Girls basketball — After playing one game last week, Ridgeview faces the two teams it is tied with at 3-1 atop the Intermountain Conference standings within three days. The Ravens play host Wednesday to Bend, the only team to beat them in conference play, before playing Friday at Summit. They also play Tuesday at 1-3 Mountain View.
